Hey there 👋 Welcome to **The Guide to Being You** — a guidebook that is a free flowing, interconnected and unfolding exploration into what it means to be human, and what it means to be you.
I'm Roc, nice to meet you! I created this guidebook and its companion [💌 newsletter](https://letter.rocguiducci.com/) out of a desire (need) to make sense of my suffering, heal and just be myself. Turns out it’s kinda hard to be yourself when there’s a bunch of stuff blocking the view of who you truly are.
I’ve felt seriously broken for as long as I can remember while I dealt with a huge laundry list of somatic issues, psychological issues and disease. It’s honestly huge and I wouldn’t know where to begin, but there will likely be sprinkles of the conditions I’ve dealt with throughout these notes. It wasn’t until recently I realised these symptoms were a result of [[🧩 Intergenerational Trauma]] and were better understood from a [[🧩 Complex PTSD]] lens, rather than one that pathologises individual conditions and diseases.
Still, I somehow managed to push myself through all this, do well in my career and build a life I can be proud of, even if most of the time it’s felt like I was on the brink of total emotional, physical and spiritual exhaustion (and still sometime does).
Along the healing journey, I noticed a lot of stuff people create or talk about are just more confusing rebrands of other similar concepts. I could see how exploitive and traumatic the entire system is at the macro level, and how that trickles down to the family unit, our relationships with others and our relationship with ourselves at the micro level.
On top of that, when it comes to the business and the online world there's a bunch of non-trauma-sensitive gurus and coaches out there that have the potential to do more harm then good, and if they're in the spirituality space there's a whole epidemic of spiritual bypassing going on which can be unsafe for those who are vulnerable.
It legitimately pains me to see others suffer, beat themselves up and believe they’re unworthy or not good enough. Not that I’m wanting to be some kind of saviour, it just sucks because people are so much more incredible than they believe themselves to be.
That’s why I’ve started writing online, and that’s why I’m publishing these notes. With an interconnected web of notes like this, I can see prominent patterns, create unique insights, and form a fresh way of thinking—hopefully one that you’ll find does some decent myth-busting and cuts through the sensationalised and convoluted noise that pervades a lot of content out there.
I’d like this guidebook to be dynamic and diverse, just like life itself. I’ve explored a broad range of topics over my lifetime so it feels like it’d be remiss to let that go to waste, though the most prominent topics you’ll find here will be related to inner work, trauma and healing, consciousness, metaphysics and spirituality, and creativity.
I've always had a deep desire to help others, give back and contribute to the greater good so I hope this space can be of service to someone who has encountered similar struggles or who finds themselves on a similar journey.
It's really awesome to have you here. If you have any questions, feedback or just want to connect, feel free to reach out - my details are up top. I’d be honoured to hear from you!
